I am the IT manager at a welded fabrication shop. Some of the offices accumulate the dust generated on the shop floor. This dust often contains oxides of iron, aluminum, and other metals that are conductive. Even with dust filter bags on the computers, after 3 to 6 months, some of the computers start having problems with graphic cards and memory modules when the dust builds up inside. Even after cleaning them out with compressed air, sometimes they still won't work until I remove and reseat the cards or modules. Usually when I do this, I flush the sockets out with denatured alcohol. I have tried Stabilant 22a on some computers only to find it make the problem worse because that dust sticks to the Stabilant 22a film on the contacts.
I would like to know if applying DeoxIT SHIELD will help in this environment, after a proper cleaning with DeoxIT cleaner.
